Preparation

This is the part where you get the goodies together. We know from experience that once the course goes ‘live’ you will want to begin to create plates immediately and if you are completely prepared there will be nothing to hold you back.

Omnichrom Pencil

An Omnichrom Pencil is such a versatile tool for drawing an image straight onto the plate. See how far you can push this pencil to get textures and tones. This is sure to be one of your new favourite methods of creating a plate.

Gouache

Gouache, or poster colour can be an excellent way to create very expressive, gestural images. Try not only pressing found items painted with gouache onto the surface of the plate but also paint the gouache directly onto the plate.

Sharpie & Drawing

Who doesn't like drawing, whether it's accurate or inventive Sharpies are one of our favourite tools for drawing. Sharpie pens give you a strong graphic line compared to the omnichrom pencil.

Acrylic Media 1

Would you have ever thought that  Acrylic floor polish with a drop of black ink could become a way to make incredible pen drawings? We take the humble floor polish to great heights with a few tips here.

Acrylic Media 2

Oh serendipity! this is a chance to go wild with the old floor polish and Copha or Crisco. The effects are astounding. Here we also learn to control a spray made of the polish to create very useful tones.

Ballpoint pen or Biro for fine lines

If you like detailed drawings a ballpoint pen is your perfect tool. The fine lines in the image above were created using a ballpoint pen.

Toner to create an image

Toner wash is quite similar in it's effects to touche.  We apply toner with a brush and dip pen and create serendipitous marks.
